Kitchen Display Systems for Senior Living
A kitchen display system (KDS) is a type of technology used in kitchens to improve the efficiency of food preparation and order fulfillment. It typically consists of a digital display screen, often mounted on the kitchen wall, which shows the status of resident orders as they are received.
The KDS receives orders from customers through a POS system, and sends it to the kitchen where it is displayed on the screen. The orders are usually displayed in the order they are received, with the most recent orders appearing at the top of the screen. This allows the kitchen staff to quickly see which orders need to be prepared first, and can help to minimize delays in order fulfillment. Individual orders can also be optionally printed if the workflow of a community requires hard copies. This is especially useful when meal preparation is done in a central kitchen for a community, and the trays need to be transported to an attached assisted living or memory care unit.
The KDS also can track the progress of each order, showing the kitchen staff when items are ready for pickup, and when they have been delivered to the customer. The system can also be configured to provide detailed information about each order, such as special instructions or allergen information, which can help kitchen staff to prepare the order correctly.
In addition to improving efficiency, a kitchen display system can also help to reduce errors and improve customer satisfaction by providing real-time visibility into the status of orders.
